The Bombshells Series by Nicola Marsh

It’s official… I’m addicted to Nicola Marsh’s writing!

I stumbled onto this series in my search for more books by Nicola Marsh, I started from the prequel book and read my way through the series in 3 days. So I thought it would be great to review all three books in one post.

Before (Bombshells #0.5)

18686338What it’s about:

Jess Haper is a good girl, always doing the right thing and never stepping out of her shell. But an incident at a college party makes her want to get away from her good life and her crazy mom, so when her brother asks her to join him on a month long trip to Australia, she’s happy to have something to do during spring break. But Jess meets hot Aussie cook Jack and suddenly she wants to be bad. The problem is, Jack has finally decided to be good and sleeping with his new friend’s little sister is a very bad idea.

What I thought:

My rating: 5 Stars

Before is the prequel to Brash , the first book in the Bombshells series and it tells the story of how Jess and Jack meet. I always like reading prequels first if I have the chance, so it was great that I found this book first. I devoured it in a couple of hours and then rushed to buy Brash , despite my dwindling bank account.

I love books that grab a hold of my emotions and take them on a rollercoaster ride. This book had me desperate to see what would happen next. The sexual tension was unbearable and the emotional games played had my heart pounding and my body vibrating. Marsh really articulates the chemistry between Jess and Jack, it’s so tangible I wasn’t sure where their emotions began and mine ended. She takes you into the outback and makes you love these two characters, I wanted them to let go and be together so badly.

I’m so happy that I read this one first because I got to experience the journey of their relationship from the start. And once it all ended I just hand to have the conclusion to their love story… hence my hasty depletion of my bank account. I started Brash almost immediately after finishing this book, and I can’t wait to see where it all goes.

Brash (Bombshells #1)

17368933What it’s about:

10 years after her trip to Australia, Jess Harper is finally going to live the life she wants… and that life is the one of a bad girl. So when hot Aussie chef Jack McVeigh comes waltzing back into her life, she knows that he’s the perfect person to get adventurous with. The only problem is that he’s not willing to turn his BFF’s sister into a one night stand. But when they are whisked away to a remote Island to plan the wedding of the century, old feeling re-emerge and a man can only resist a Bombshell for so long.

What I thought:

My rating: 5 Stars

After ploughing through Before I hastily bought this book in sheer desperation to read the end of Jess and Jack’s story. Marsh completely sucked me into the lives of these two characters and I needed to know that they were going to end up together.
I just loved how this book started. Jess has finally decided to be a bad girl for once and who better to do it with then hot Aussie Jack? Every emotion that Jess felt was imprinted on my soul and I wanted to strangle Jack for being such a moron and pushing her away.

I take my hat off to Marsh for being such a masterful storyteller, these books are short but they don’t feel that way and you really do go through the whole spectrum of emotions while reading. There’s plenty of hot steamy scenes, funny banter and just the right amount of frustration. I’m loving this series!

Blush (Bombshells #2)

18362671What it’s about:

Adele Radcliff has worked hard to erase the sins of her past. But when she ends up on the beach alone with her friend’s brother everything changes . Reid Harper’s job consumes him and it’s all he knows, until he meets Adele and he suddenly wants more… he wants a relationship, the problem is Adele doesn’t. She’s not letting anyone know her secrets especially Reid, who’s career will end because of them. But Reid’s not letting go without a fight and he’s going to prove to Adele that being with her is worth losing everything.

What I thought:

My rating: 4 Stars

4 steamy, love fuelled, emotional stars
After reading the first two books in this series I wasn’t too sure I liked Reid, I mean I liked him as Jess’s big brother but I wasn’t too sure his story would be as amazing as the first one. I’m so very happy I was wrong. This book made me fall head over heels for Reid.

I loved this story, Adele is an awesome character. I liked that she had a a past and wasn’t perfect. I also liked that the roles were kind of reversed in this book, Adele was the one pushing Reid away, “for his own good”. I’m so happy that Adele was a real woman, someone who didn’t jump at the prospect of being with Reid especially as a secret. I’m tired of those pathetic, love-sick Ana Steele characters and I found Adele so refreshing and strong.

This story sucked me in from the moment Reid and Adele took a walk on the beach. I enjoyed taking the journey with these two characters and being there to see them come together. Once again Marsh has created a story worth reading and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
