Veronica Mars – the movie is finally here!

Hello my fellow Marshmallows! Last Friday all our dreams came true when the Kickstarter funded Veronica Mars movie was finally released. After almost a year of waiting, speculating and viciously searching every corner of the internet for sneak peeks, the movie finally made its way to me. I couldn’t wait to get just one more taste of the sassy, silver tongued Veronica Mars (played by Kristen Bell) and see where her story ended up. So, on Saturday I got comfortable on the couch and watched the movie I’ve been waiting 7 years for.

VM5542So, what is the storyline for this movie? It’s been 10 years since Veronica, Wallace, Logan and Mac graduated from Neptune High and Veronica is about to put an end to all criminals as a Lawyer, with no intention of going near her home town. But when Logan is once again accused of murder Veronica finds herself sucked back into the seedy town of Neptune. Something is fishy and Veronica plans on finding out what happened – don’t you feel sorry for the bad guys?

Currently rated 7.9/10 on IMDB, this movie is obviously pleasing the fans and after enjoying it myself I can understand why. The movie brings back all our favourite characters and while they are older and making something of their lives, we still get to see the old rivalries and relationships that keep us firmly in Veronica’s world. I really enjoyed the movie, Veronica Mars is one of my all-time favourite characters and it was so great to see her in action again. I liked that there was a more mature nature to the characters and how Veronica wasn’t scared to use more unladylike language this time around, it just proves that creator Rob Thomas made sure that the fans could relate to the characters who have grown, just like them. The storyline captivated me and I wanted to know what was going to happen next, when Veronica picks up a case you know she’s going to dig until she gets answers and like always, the story unravelled in just the right way. What I also thought was really great was how the movie really pays tribute to the fans with constant inside jokes that only a true Marshmallow would pick up on, they joke about Bell’s body after her pregnancy, give a quirky shout-out to the Kickstarter campaign and even make sure we hear the beloved theme song “We used to be friends”.

Overall I think this was a great movie that really gave back to the fans who funded it, giving them one more taste at the series we loved. The Veronica Mars movie is available for download through iTunes and Amazon now.

Once you’ve watched the movie make sure you check out this Cinema Blend article, and find out what you don’t know about the movie.
